Isha wears her first pair of shoes

On Saturday we took Isha to Stoney Point Mall and did a little shopping and enjoyed the sunny weather. We dressed her up in her pink Chinaman outfit. I know this is not politically correct, but when she is laying down and the little jacket is all flared out it looks like a little Chinese jacket. She also wore her first pair of shoes. I don't know why she need shoes because she can't walk, but they looked really cute so we couldn't help it.
On Sunday Isha wore her little peach booties that her Grandma Carol crocheted for her. We bought the outfit to match the booties. She is a true girlie girl, buying an outfit just to match footwear! I love this little outfit because you don't find many peach baby clothes. The bottoms have little ruffles on the butt. As soon as I saw it I had to buy it because it matched the booties perfectly.
Poor Isha had just woke up when we took this picture and you can tell she is tired of modeling her footwear.

Mom and Isha go to church

Isha and I went to our church for the first time. I was a nervous wreck the whole time because I was afraid she would scream, but she slept through the whole mass. I decided to take her because I missed her when I would see all the other babies at mass. It was great to have her there with me.

Naptime

Here is sleeping beauty. She loves to sleep with her hands above her head. This picture is really quite amazing because usually the only place I can get her to sleep is in her bouncy seat or swing. If I put her down to sleep in her bed she starts crying. When I laid her down in here I never expected her to lay there and sleep for 2 hours. I was so proud of her. Now if we could just get her to go to sleep that easily at night. I can't complain though, it might take awhile to get her to sleep, but once she does she sleeps for 7-8 hours. Yippee!!!! I hope I didn't just jinx us.

Isha's Lunch Date

Isha and I went and had lunch with Mandy and Ann Hartley. Isha slept through lunch, but mom enjoyed some grown-up company. For our lunch date Isha decided to wear her sweater that her Aunt Megan knitted for her. As you can tell Isha is happy with her wardrobe choice. She has started smiling all the time. The best is when she wakes up in the morning and gives us a huge smile as soon as she opens her little eyes and sees us. It absolutely melts my heart.

Daddy's Girl

There is not much going on at the Oberoi house but I wanted to post something new for our loyal followers. Isha is doing great and getting bigger every day. She has outgrown almost all of her newborn clothes and it's time to move up a diaper size. She is smiling a lot and starting to coo. She is also interacting with us more. She smiles when you pick her up and talk to her and she loves watching the little fish on her bouncy seat. She is also great at sticking her bottom lip out when she pouts. It is really cute.

Isha goes to mass

Wow it has been a long week. Monday was good. Jai was off so we spent some family time together. Another rough night trying to get Isha to go to be. AND then came Tuesday, what Jai and I will refer to as the white trash day. We had a good day, but it turned ugly that evening. I was cooking dinner with Isha on the counter in her bouncy seat and Stitch at my feet. I gave Stitch a cookie and then got my plate ready. Just then Isha decides she is starving so I leave my dinner to get cold and I go to feed her. While I am feeding Isha, Stitch sits down at my feet and I hear him munching on something. I can't believe he is still eating the same cookie, so I look down and he is munching away on a block of RAT POISON!! I called animal poison control and was told to make him vomit. So after 3 TBSP of hydrogen peroxide, a jog up and down the street and jumping around in the front yard (because we had to be in an area that was well lit so we could make sure he brought up the poison) I was left with one heck of a clean up job and neighbors who think I am crazy to be running around in the dark with the dog. Thankfully Stitch is doing just fine. When it was bed time I was to worn out to spend hours getting Isha to sleep so I decided it was time to lay down the law. We swaddled her and used the steps in The Happiest Baby On the Block book and in 10 minutes she was asleep and she stayed that way for 7 hours. Wednesday was a busy day. Isha went to mass for the first time. We went to the little chapel at St. Francis Hospital. That was nice because it was a short service. She fussed a little in the beginning, but slept through the rest of mass. All the little old ladies wanted to see her and she received a blessing from the priest. It was great. Then that afternoon we went to my postpartum check up. Isha fussed the whole time which was stressful, but I did get a clean bill of health, minus the broken tailbone. Thursday was very laid back. We did lots of resting to get caught up from the two outings on Wed. That evening we took Stitch to Brusters to get him ice cream for his 10th Birthday. Thank goodness it is Friday. We have kept up the swaddling technique and have had 5-7 hours of sleep every night!!!!!

Isha's First Valentine

Here Isha is on her first Valentine's day. She is wearing her valentine outfit that Adam and Laura got her. I thought it was appropriate that the shirt says lil cupcake because I ate a lot of cupcakes when I was pregnant with Isha. That must be why Isha is such a sweet little girl. Lola, the pink hippo, was Isha's gift from Grandma and Grandpa Duffy. Lola wiggles her ears when you hug her and she talks to you. She is so cute. The teddy bear was a gift from her Daddy along with a musical card, which plays a country music song. Isha better not grow up to be a country music fan because of this, but the lyrics to the song were perfect. Daddy is very thoughtful. He has a way of melting our hearts and spoiling us rotten. I wanted to do something nice for Jai on Valentine's Day so I decided to make a dinner. Nothing special, but so far I haven't done much cooking so I thought I would give it a try. I even put a pretty red sweater on so that I would look festive. The dinner turned out great and the evening was a hit. The only problem was that Isha christened my sweater twice with a great big spit up!! I am starting to think that I am the one that needs to wear a bib.

Isha meets her first boy!

Some friends of ours came over with their little boy, Liam. This is the first little boy that Isha has met. The funny thing is that she made him cry. Every time Isha cried it upset Liam and he would start crying. I hope things remain this way, with Isha making the boys cry instead of the other way around. Keep watching because Jai will be editing this post to add his comments regarding Isha and boys. Liam is a cutie. He is 6 months old and just the happiest little guy. His mom has made tons of food for us and has been a great source of advice.

Rub-a-Dub-Dub

Here Isha is after her bath in her little yellow duckie robe. Isha loves bath time, which is a good thing because her long black locks need frequent washing. Isha also likes to pee in her little baby bath tub. This robe was a gift from the Best family. They sent Isha a whole box of goodies. Heather Best is one of my closest friends. We have known each other since elementary school. I can't wait for Heather and Isha to meet. I am also excited to meet Heather's second little girl that is due in April. Heather has been a great source of advice and strength throughout my pregnancy and these early weeks of Isha's life.

Isha's one month check up

Isha had her one month check up on the 9th of Feb. She is now 20 inches long and 9 pounds and 6 1/2 ounces. The doctor said she is healthy. That is always good news. We were both nervous when he took us into his office. My stomach sank and I thought he was going to tell us something horrible. All he did was show us the growth chart and give us a chance to ask questions. Okay... so I'm a little paranoid. It is amazing how much we love this little girl and how easy it is to bond with her.
She is smiling a lot, which everyone says is just gas, but it is still really cute. She has also decided that she would like to spend more awake hours at night. So we have had some long and sleepless nights but we are hoping this is a short lived phase. Luckily our friends are still bringing food, which has given mom a chance to nap instead of cook. Thank you so much!!! The other life saver is this swing, thank you Monica and Adri, and the bouncy seat! I don't know what moms did before these things were invented.

Isha and Mom spend quality time together

This is special. Mom and daughter spend quality time sleeping. They look so cute cuddling on the couch. I wish I was in this picture but then a ghost would be taking the picture and that's too scary. Also, if I was in the picture then people would say take a look at the chocolate milk baby (mom's the milk and dad's the chocolate). If there's a chocolate milk company out there that wants to use my idea and picture, please give me a call. I am always open to making money as long as it's legal.

Adam and Isha spend quality time together

Adam played with Isha and had her exercising by dancing. She loved it so much that he tried once again. This time she just wanted to relax and talk. The last time, she was smiling and laughing but not sure if it was the dancing or the gas she passed. I'll say it was the dancing so Adam feels good. Just kidding. Isha loves to play with Adam and so does Stitch. He has a way with kids and dogs (not sure the correlation but interesting).

Isha spends time with Punum and Gogo

Punum and Gogo game down to see Isha. They just loved her cute face and the fact that it was nap time. Isha said thanks for holding her while her mom and dad got a chance to relax. Thanks again.

Isha spends time with more friends

Isha got to meet my parent's close friends. They just love seeing Isha and can't believe I have a child. The look on Sunny's face is of "are you for real". I asked the same question and finally in the last week came to the realization that I have a daughter. Just kidding. Look at her, she looks just like me. God help her.

Eric "the next Senator" kissing and holding babies

Eric practices with Isha, preparing to be the next Senator of any state that would have him. I guess he would do great in the south since in his blog he claims to have many "white trash" moments. Just kidding. We love you man!!! By the way, Isha does too!!!

Isha with her Grandma and Grandpa Oberoi

Isha finally had some time to spend with her Grandma and Grandpa Oberoi. She feels so good that it was nap time. Now why can't that happen to us especially during the night? Well, it does but 9 out of 10 times her bottom makes a noise like your lips fluttering. You know what that means, it's time to change the diaper. At least Isha doesn't need to have her diaper on for a long trip to scare someone (i.e. NASA people).
Let me get back to my parents and how much fun they had with Isha. This is their first granddaughter so now they have both (Stephen and Isha). Isha says, "I love you Grandpa and Grandma".

Isha and Ann Hartley

Eric and Mandy stopped by with baby Ann Hartley. It was great for the girls to meet each other. Jai and I have learned a lot about the life of new parents from the Millers. We read their blog but just didn't believe it could be true or we hoped it wouldn't happen to us. Despite hoping it would be different for us the Millers were right. Babies are poop machines to an extent we just couldn't imagine and a full night of sleep is something of the past. It has been a lot of fun sharing this experience with Eric and Mandy and they have been a great source of information and amusement. We are still laughing about the white trash week.

Moms first attempt at blogging

This is my first attempt at posting something on the blog. I am technology challenged, but you will find that I spell better than Jai does. This pooh outfit was the very first gift Isha received. Adri dropped it off a few days after I found out I was pregnant. I am going to brag because I can't help it. Isn't she adorable.

Isha takes a picture with her "Honey Bear"

Isha points at her "Honey Bear" friend that Grandpa Jack sent her. She loves her new best friend and can't wait to see her Grandpa Jack to thank him. Isha says, "thank you Grandpa Jack for thinking of me and I just love Honey Bear". She also said, "please send him lots of hugs and kisses from me".

More friends stop by to visit with Isha

Isha is very popular. She had more friends stop by to see her and hold her cute self. Tommy and Stephanie came by and I think this is the first time he's held a baby. Looks like a natural. Dude you're so getting lucky tonight, just look at Stephanie's face.
Trish came to see if Isha really did have all that hair and to confirm that she did look like my baby. We have confirmation from multiple friends and family now that this cute girl is mine (might have her mothers looks but none the less, she is still mine). Trish can't believe that I'm a father now since she knows how I act (like a child). She says, good luck Isha, you're going to need it. Also, don't let daddy play with all your toys, just tell him NO.
