Isha Update

Today Isha had her 4 month check up. She weighed 12 pounds and 15 and 1/2 ounces, this puts her in the 40th percentile. She had a huge poop right before we left for the appointment. The doctor said that if she hadn't done that she would have made it to an even 13 pounds. She is 23 and 1/2 inches long putting her in the 25th percentile for height. She cried when she got her shots and then preceded to scream until Jai and I came out from talking with the doctor. She had little Barbie band-aids on her legs. Sorry there are no pics to post, but Isha was fussy so I put her to bed. More good news. One of Jai's co-workers heard that we were planning on driving to Texas with the dog and the baby and they volunteered to watch Stitch for us. The have a golden retriever, Miles, who is 9 years old so Stitch will have a buddy to play with all week. I am SO relieved that we don't have to drive. I don't know how we will ever repay Jim and Adrienne!!! God is good!!!

A Roadtrip to Fredricksburg

I had a great Mother's Day. I woke up in the morning with a present sitting in the rocking chair. Isha and Jai got me a beautiful charm bracelet. We all went to church together, which was great. After Isha woke up from her nap we drove to Fredricksburg to have dinner with Tony and Angela. Isha did great in the car, which is a good thing considering that we are driving to Texas at the end of this week. Isha loved being the center of attention. Alex, Madison and Shannon spent lots of time playing with Isha. Angela held Isha while I ate dinner. It was great to be able to eat a warm dinner! Here is a picture of Isha with her Uncle Tony. We had a great time visiting with the Turners!

Some New Discoveries

This has been a week of new discoveries for Isha. She realized that her Jumparoo has toys that hang above her head. She loves looking at the blue frog that keeps a watchful eye on here. She also realized she could jump up and down in the Jumparoo. I was so proud of her that I grabbed the video camera, but unfortunately I am totally inept with technology and I forgot to hold the record button down. The whole time that I thought I was taping I was really just watching her on the video screen. Well better luck next time. Isha also realized that she has feet. She loves to grab hold of them. She is also getting closer to rolling over. Now she can roll onto her side and I think that with a little more practice she will have it.

You will notice that I made a few changes and additions to the blog. I have to admit that I stole the baby ticker idea from the Millers. I think it will be helpful to keep track of how old Isha is. So, thanks for the good idea. I know that copy cats are so annoying, but I do have one thing to say: my baby had hair first!

Happy Birthday Isha

Isha is four months old today! It is hard to believe that only 4 months ago she was just arriving. It is hard to even imagine back to the time before she was here. It is amazing how our lives have changed. Isha's hair is getting long. She now has little curls above her ears. I think that she looks like the flying nun in this picture. I think that she may have a cold. She has a stuffy nose, hasn't been sleeping well, and rosy red cheeks. Despite all of this she is still happy all the time. She goes to the doctor next Tuesday for her check up and shots. It is always fun to go and she how much weight she has gained and how tall she has grown. We will let you know what the stats are after the appointment.

A Hairy Visit

The Millers came for dinner last night and Hartley was sporting a new do. Since the last time we saw Hartley, she has miraculously gone from bald to a full head of curly black hair! What a change in only a week and a half. The girls were checking each other out and sharing their hair care secrets. Isha played along well, but in this next picture, Isha is looking at the camera and saying, "Can you believe this girl. Like anyone is going to believe that hair is real!" We had a great time hanging out with Hartley. She was a good sport about wearing the wig, but we prefer her sweet little bald head so the rest of the night she was wig free. The girls had fun playing together, and Hartley even took the Jumparoo for a test drive. Hey Eric, thanks for the help in the kitchen. The dishes are extra clean now!!! We can't wait to have you over again and let the girls play! We always have a blast and there are great pictures to post afterwards.

One Year Ago

It was one year ago today that we found out we were pregnant!! I remember walking around most of the day in total disbelief. I had to keep looking at the test to make it sink in. And now here I am a year later walking around with a baby in my arms. It is hard to believe that this adorable little girl is the same one as the little peanut we saw on our first ultrasound. It has been an amazing year!!!

The Queen Comes To Richmond

The Queen of England is in Virginia to help celebrate the 400th anniversary of Jamestown. While it is exciting to have her here, I don't know what all the hub-bub is about. Maybe Richmond isn't aware of the fact that we have royalty already here in Virginia.

May I introduce to you: HRH ( Her Royal Highness) Princess Isha Rosalynn Oberoi. Her Majesty had just woke up from a nap, so her hair was a little messy, but when you are a princess you just cover it up with your crown.

Isha's Ready For Summer

Yesterday Isha got her first swim suit, complete with a pair of glasses to keep the rays out of her eyes. We are just waiting for the pool to open and then she will be a true bathing beauty. Isha loves taking a bath so hopefully she will like playing in the pool. Keep checking for pictures from our first trip to the pool.

Bye Bye Bumbo!

The Bumbo's life was short lived at the Oberoi house. Yesterday it was traded in for something bigger and better. Isha is to interested in stuff to just sit silently in the Bumbo. Actually, she was arching her back and I was afraid she was going to fall out of it. So, the Bumbo went back and we came home with the jumper play station. Isha is still a little short, so she hasn't done much jumping yet, but she loves all the colors and noises that this new toy makes. It has a frog and bird that hang from the top and a elephant and monkey that sing and light up. There is also a tiger that hides behind the bushes and pops up. It is really cute and it does a much better job of keeping her occupied.

Isha's New Dress

Here is the dress that Sara and Shawn got for Isha. It is so adorable!!! She wore it to church this morning. Isha was a very good girl at church this morning. She did lots of cooing and gurgling during mass. She smiled big for the deacon when he was blessing her!

Isha's Avatar

Yahoo! Avatars"

Here is an avatar that I made for Isha. She looks very traditional in her sari standing in front of the Taj Mahal. I also made sure that Stitch was in there with his little sister.
This avatar thing is very confusing. If I change the avatar on my email to mine it changes the one here. And I have to keep changing the hair because it always resorts back to the first one I made for her. What do you expect for free?

A Visit To The Miller's

We went to the Miller's house Wednesday night for dinner and some play time. Mandy fixed us a great spaghetti dinner and home made chocolate pie. YUMMY. We had a great time. Unfortunately, by time I remembered to get the camera out Hartley was already in bed so she didn't make it into any pictures. The Miller's dog Lilly decided she would take the opportunity to get some time in the spot light. Lilly gave Isha lots of kisses on her face. She is the cutest little dog (and Stitch is the cutest big dog). Hartley is a great friend. She is about 7 weeks older than Isha, so she is always giving us a preview of what is to come. She also let Isha test drive her exersaucer and boy did Isha like that. If you call this weekend and we are not home then chances are we are at Toys-R-Us buying Isha her own exersaucer! Isha really enjoyed playing with all the toys and she also liked being able to stand up. Of course once she realized she can stand she is no longer happy to just sit. She arches her back every time I put her in the swing or Bumbo.

The other big event of Wednesday was that Isha learned how to gurgle. Since learning this skill she has been doing it non stop. She also figured out how to spit. I picked her up and she promptly spit in my face and then on the way home from the Miller's she cried and spit all the way home. By time we got there she was soaking wet from spitting all over herself. We will have to get the video camera out so we can show you all of her new tricks.

A New Bedtime For Isha

It was getting harder and harder to get Isha to sleep so we decided that something had to change. We are now putting her to bed at 8 pm instead of 10 pm and it has made a huge difference. We don't even have to rock her to sleep anymore. I have also started putting her in her bassinet for naps instead of just letting her sleep in the swing. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think she may actually sleep in her crib one day. It is strange how quite it is in the evenings now. I miss having the extra time to play with her, but it wasn't fair to her because she was so tired. Isha is learning that toys are meant to be played with, or at least made to be eaten. She has started to hold onto toys and rattle them and chew on them. We are so proud of her. As you can see Isha still has a case of crazy hair. She got her bath last night and once again she went to sleep with damp hair. Oh well, she is so cute she can pull it off. Isha has invaded the living room. Jai hung up all the pictures we had taken last month. It filled up the wall perfectly and thanks to Jai's great handy work everything is straight and level. Jai's new project is yard work. We will have to get some pictures to show y'all how hard he has been working. Isha is a great project manager. She sits in her stroller and supervises her dad's work.

Another Bad Hair Day

Isha is not impressed with having her picture taken right after waking up.

YIKES!!!!

Sara gave Isha an adorable dress, which she was going to wear to church, but unfortunately I woke up with a soar throat and ear ache so we missed church. Stay posted for a picture of the dress next Sunday.

I laid Isha down for her nap with wet hair and this is what I found when she woke up. She looked like Don King! I have tried twice now to wet it down and comb it, but I dries the same way every time. I think we are stuck with this do until her hair is washed again.

A Good Weekend

Isha wanted to keep showing her support to the Hokies, so she wore her pink Hokie outfit. She even wore her VT hat for awhile. She also wore little pink tennis shoes. They were so cute. It was really warm out on Saturday so halfway through the day we took the shoes off to give her toes some fresh air. Dad did some yard work on Saturday, so Isha and I hung out for awhile in the sun watching dad work.

Shawn and Sara came down from Arlington in the afternoon, so we took them around Richmond to let the new Virginians check out the capital city. You are probably wondering where the pictures are. Well, I swore that I took some, but I guess not so if you want to check out our day you will have to take a look at Shawn and Sara's blog. After the tour we went to Thai Diner (yummy, yummy, yummy) for dinner. Unfortunately, I left my purse at the restaurant and Jai had to drive all the way back to get it. I think Isha is sucking all my brain cells out!!!

We had a wonderful day visiting with Shawn and Sara and enjoying a little sunshine.

Hokie Hope Day

Today is a day of mourning here in Virginia for all the victims of the shooting at Virginia Tech. Everyone was encouraged to wear Virginia Tech colors to show their support. Jai and I are adopted Hokies. Neither of us went to VA Tech, but our close friends went to school there and we have become Hokie fans. Last fall we went to a Hokie football game and it was a blast. After the game we drove around the campus. It is a beautiful place. You can tell that VA Tech is a close community and I could see why students fall in love with this school.

It has been a very emotional week. We have been praying for all the victims and all the students that have to deal with this horrible situation. I hope this is not the thing that defines VA Tech because it is really so much more than this horrible tragedy. After seeing how brave and strong the students have been through all of this, I think that VA Tech will return to the wonderful, beautiful and fun place of learning that it has always been.

Today was also Earth day. So we went to Daddy's work to celebrate and have lunch with him. We had a good time meeting everyone that Daddy works with. Ann Hartley also came to visit her Daddy, Eric, so we all had lunch together. Jai had a great time showing off his little girl!! Here is a picture taken at the Capital One campus with everyone in their Hokie colors.

Isha Loves Her Bumbo

Here is another show of Isha in her Bumbo. She loves this thing. She is wearing the sweater that her grandma Oberoi knitted for her. She looks so cute with the hat on. Isha and Mommy. Pink was the color of the day yesterday, obviously. Actually we wear a lot of pink around here. What can I say, Isha is a girlie girl.

Isha gets a Bumbo

Every since Isha realized that she could sit up, that is the only thing she wants to do. She is not content to just be held like a baby, she wants to sit up and check everything out. The Bumbo is perfect and she looks so cute sitting in it.
Isha slept in her crib Saturday night for the first time. We were so proud of ourselves and then came Sunday night. I gave her a bath and then fed her and I figured we were ready to go to bed. I sat and rocked her and hummed lullabies to her and she was still bright eyed. I tried singing, rocking, swaying, the pacifier, and then feeding again, all to no avail. An hour later Isha was still wide awake. I was so frustrated that Jai had to take over and a half an hour later she was asleep. So after one and a half hours Isha was swaddled up in her bassinet. So much for the crib. One for Isha, Jai and Jen: 0.

Sleeping Beauty

Jai took these pictures Wednesday night while I was working. He said she cried most of the time. It is hard to believe him after seeing these pictures, so you will just have to take his word. Maybe it was all the asparagus that I ate for lunch. Actually that might be a good idea. Try out all the gassy foods on the days I have to work. Just kidding, I wouldn't do that to Jai. She is such a little angel. Jai and I think she looks like she is praying. She probably is praying that I never eat asparagus again. Yesterday she was laying on the bed talking and fussing while I was getting ready. I noticed that she no longer sounds like a tiny baby. Her fussing and crying has changed to a more mature sounding noise. I noticed it again this morning. I know this sounds strange and I can't really find the right way to explain it, but she is definitely sounding different. I get excited when I realize changes, but it also makes me sad that she is growing up so fast.

Isha baby

Isha is very cute. She just sits there and smiles. What a great girl. I hope she stays this way.
