Our Little Monkey

Isha is climbing on everything. Since we put a gate up on the stairs she has figured out that she can climb up the outside of the stairs. Pretty soon she is going to be swinging from the rafters!

Big Girl

Isha went for her 15 month check up this week and we got lots of good news. She is healthy and growning perfectly. She weighs 20 lbs and 2 oz and she is 29 1/2 inches tall. That puts her in the 20th percentile for height and weight. Her head circumference is up a little bit and the doctor said that is probably due to thickening hair. Our pediatrician is great. He has a great sense of humor. I asked him about Isha being so bowlegged and he said not to worry and that she would outgrow that or else she would grow up to be a great horse back rider. I also asked him when to get rid of the paci (she only uses it in her crib when she sleeps) and he said she would either give it up on her own or when she got embarrassed because her boyfriend found it.

That's my girl. Already showing a love for shoes. She loves to try on all of my shoes. It has finally gotten warm enough to get out the summer clothes. This adorable outfit and the one in the first picture were picked out by Isha's Tia, who has amazing taste in kids clothes. All week it has been like a fashion show around here. I love her smile in this picture!
In other big girl news, we bought Isha a potty chair and yesterday she actually went pee pee in it. She woke up from her nap dry so I put her on the chair and she went potty. The chair sings a song when she uses it and she was so proud of herself. I was so excited, but I know that we have a long road ahead. We are not actively potty training, but I figured it can't hurt to get her familiar with the potty.
We also turned her car seat around so that now it is front facing. I think she liked being able to see what was going on.
Isha has also started wiping her face after she is done eating, wiping her nose and trying to comb her hair. She is growing by leaps and bounds. It is so fun to watch her learn all of this new stuff.
Isha is still working on perfecting her utensil skills. I made her some pasta the other day and figured she wouldn't eat it because she doesn't typically eat pasta, but she surprised me when she ate the whole bowl. Yum Yum Yum! Yesterday evening we went to visit with Tony, Angela, and the kids. Isha was having a good time watching uncle Tony play the Wii. And yes that is a paci in her mouth and I did just tell everyone that she only uses it in her crib, but we had just got her up from sleeping and were getting ready to head back to Richmond. We left at 11:15 at night and of course she stayed awake the whole 1 hour and 15 minute car ride home. And that was even after a dose of benadryl earlier in the evening. The girl just refuses to sleep in the car.

A Busy Little Daddy's Girl

Isha has really become a Daddy's Girl. When Jai walks in the door she starts screaming and can't run to him fast enough. The other day she was screaming and crying because he was outside and she could see him through the window, but couldn't get outside to be with him. No wonder she loves him so much! I love this little outfit. Grandma Louise sent the adorable shirt and we found the perfect jean skirt to go with it.

And now to the busy part. Isha loves to get into stuff. I used to try to keep her out of stuff, but I have realized that this is impossible, so now when I am cooking I let her pull the pots and pans out of the drawer and tear up the pantry. Here she is crawling all over the foot stool. Sometimes she gets herself stuck and needs a little help getting out of a mess. Then she crawls right back where she was! She definitely keeps me busy, but I am glad that she is exploring her world and learning lots of new and fun stuff!

Peas Up My Nose

I am afraid that one day we will be that family in the ER whose child has shoved a pea or bean either up their nose or in their ear. In our case, obviously, it will be the pea up the nose. I love the fact that her bib says LI'L FLIRT. I think it is hard to be a flirt when you have peas up your nose!

Catching Up

I have been a slacker lately when it comes to blog posting. Sorry about that. I will catch everyone up on what has been going on around here. This weekend we went to an Italian Festival at St. Joseph's Church. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and the event was a soggy and muddy mess. I felt so bad for all the people who worked so hard to put this festival together. This was there first year. Hopefully next year the weather will cooperate. We were able to at least have some meatballs and Sicilian Pizza. YUMMY!

Isha is starting to look more like a toddler and less like a baby everyday. Some days I think it is cute and other days it makes me sad that she is growing up so fast. Just last week we noticed that all four of her molars are working on coming in. This girl loves to eat. I have started giving her bigger pieces of food so that she can learn to take bites out of food. Obviously we still have a way to go with this lesson. Isha still prefers to just cram as much in as she can. Can you say "OINK"! It is funny how you always think that your kid is so smart and then they do stuff like this and then you know that she is her father's daughter. Just kidding Jai...you know I love you! I finally had to help her out from under the chair because she wouldn't just crawl underneath. If the chair had been on a softer surface and we hadn't already had a bad incident earlier in the week I would have left her there longer to try and figure it out.
Last Monday morning Isha was playing and fell over onto a plastic toy and cut her gums. It started pouring out blood and I became that crazed lunatic parent that I always said I wouldn't become. I guess when your kid is bleeding that bad you just freak out. Once I got her cleaned up I put her down for her nap and got myself together and cried. When she woke up her gums were black and blue and full of gashes. She looked like she had been in a boxing match and her upper lip was swollen for 3 days. Luckily her gums healed quickly and now she is back to her adorable self.

Look-Alike Meter

Everyone is always saying that Isha looks just like Jai. I have even had people ask me is she is mine. I am sure that it is because of the dark hair and eyes, but now I have proof that she does look like me!!!

This proves that she really does look like me!

It's Good To Be Home

We got home from Texas late Monday night and after nine days away it felt really good to sleep in our own beds! Unfortunately Jai and I brought some flu bug back with us so the first few days back were a little rough. Luckily Isha managed not to catch it. So I am sorry it took so long to post the Texas pictures on the blog, but we are just now starting to get back into our routine. Poor Isha was so sleep deprived that she spent the first few days home just napping and catching up! Here is Isha just relaxing and snacking on her Cheerios! I know...do something with that kids hair!!!

Birthday Party #2

Jai's family surprised Isha with a birthday party complete with her own smash cake. I just have to take a minute to rant about the cake. Isha's smash cake was Amaretto and the big cake was half German chocolate and half white cake with strawberry mousse filling. YUM! Isha with her Auntie and her Tia!

Two birthday parties. How lucky can one little girl get? We even had Elmo plates and napkins! YUMMY! Actually, Isha wasn't really into eating the cake, which was fine with us because that just meant more cake for us! We had the party on Sunday afternoon and I think she was still overwhelmed by all of the people. But by the end of the week she was comfortable with being passed around and loved on by everyone. Isha loves Elmo, so it was the perfect theme for her party. Nothing like trying to get red icing off of a baby.
Isha made out like a bandit. Her Uncle Bobby, Tia Viviann and Stephen got her loads of adorable clothes and an even cuter swimming suit. You will start seeing them as the weather warms up here. Her Auntie Bhawna and Uncle Tom got her a big doll and her Grandma and Grandpa Oberoi got her three beautiful outfits from India complete with bracelets and a gold necklace. Her next set of pictures are going to be taken in some of the outfits from India. I can't wait.
This is one spoiled kid.

Spring Break In Texas

We went to Texas to visit with Jai's family. Of course we spent the first few hours trying to child proof the house. Isha loved getting into everything before we had a chance to move it out of her reach.

We didn't have any room in the suitcases to bring toys with us so we made a quick trip to Wal-Mart to get Isha a few things to play with. She had a blast smacking the golf balls around with her clubs. She also had fun smacking us around. Nothing better than a big bouncy ball. On St. Patrick's day we spent the day with Jai's sister and brother-in-law in Fredericksburg. It is an amazing old German town that is full of fun shops and wineries. We had a great German lunch and then we checked out some of the shops and even did a little wine tasting! We also spent a day at the outlet mall and Isha had a good time riding all of the little rides. We started out with Pumba, but when we saw the bull we knew we had to let her ride it! As they say: When it Texas. . .
Isha loved riding this thing. She was jumping up and down and hollering like a crazy woman.
One night Jai's parents watched the grand kids and we went out with his brother and sister-in-law and had a great time down on 6th street in downtown Austin.
We spent Easter weekend in Dallas with Jai's sister, but unfortunately the camera was in the stroller so we don't have any pictures to share. Isha managed to score 3 Easter baskets so she had plenty to keep her busy. When she wasn't playing with her Easter eggs she was looking under the bed for the kitty. It was so cute, she would squat down to look under the bed and then point at the cat. I don't think the kitty was very impressed with Isha, but luckily they managed to keep their distance.
We had a great time visiting with everybody and we can't wait to go back!

All By Myself

Isha is becoming very independent and she is not afraid to let you know that she can do things herself. The other day at the park Isha got mad at a little girl because the girl was trying to hold her hand. The poor little girl, who is only 3 years old, couldn't figure out why Isha didn't want to be her friend. I had to explain to her that Isha doesn't understand that yet and that she likes to do things on her own. I have started letting her try to use the spoon by herself. It is a very messy deal, but she is so proud of herself when she gets a bite into her mouth. In order for her to eat I have to occasionally give her a helping hand. I know it is a little tacky to have the Halloween bib on at Easter time, but you got to work with what ya got!

Last night the Millers came over for dinner. We wanted to get together before we left for Texas. Isha was a total show off. She kept screaming at the top of her lungs and running around like a maniac. She definitely put on a good show for our company. Hartley wasn't sure whether or not she wanted to play in the balls, but with a little coaxing we finally got her in there. Here is our big girl. I have to say that Eric looks quite handsome with that purse!!! We had a great time last night and we can't wait to get together again.

A Visit From Great Grandma Carol

This week Isha's great-grandma Carol came for a visit, all the way from Seattle Washington. This is her second trip out to see Isha and I am so glad that Isha is getting to spend time with her. We had a very busy week. On Tuesday grandma went with us to kindermusik and on Wednesday we spent some time playing at the park. Yesterday we went to Ben Franklin and bought Isha this adorable foam fish hat for $0.77! What a bargain. She is going to be adorable at the pool this summer. We did lots of cooking while grandma was here also. It was fun to just spend some time hanging out and letting Isha show her great-grandma all the stuff she can do. Grandma was even able to see a few little temper tantrums. But most of the time was spent playing and snuggling. What a good week. Next week we are off to see Isha's grandparents in TX. Isha sure has a lot of people that love her. What a lucky little girl!
