Merry Christmas 2009

Merry Christmas
We had a wonderful Christmas. It was so nice to be home after being away for a week. We went to church on Christmas Eve with Adam and Laura and the girls got to get all dressed up in their pretty Christmas dresses.
Our beautiful girls!!
"One of these things is not like the other!"
We spent Christmas night with Adam and Laura. Here is a picture of all the babies in their first Christmas outfits. Mackenzie is on the left and Rebekah is on the right. These girls are going to be best friends!!!
Here is our Christmas tree on Christmas morning. Santa brought Diya a new exersaucer and lots of presents for Isha to open. I figured that Isha would tear through the paper, but she was pretty dainty with it which made for a long morning. We had to take a break from opening presents for Diya to eat and the rest of us to get a snack. Diya hanging out on the couch enjoying her first Christmas.
Isha wore her helmet most of the day and played on her "puter" all day long!!! This was a computer Christmas. Both of the girls got computers and Mommy even got a fancy little laptop, which she absolutely loves!!! The girls also got lots of cute clothes and fun toys to play with.
Diya checking out her new toy. I think that Isha is playing with it as much as Diya is!
Here is the mess that was left after opening presents. After we were done opening gifts we made a big breakfast of biscuits and gravy, eggs, and mimosas!! It was a wonderful Christmas.

Welcome Home

This is what was going on while we were in Jamaica! It is hard to be in your shorts enjoying the sun in the morning and be in your winter coat that same evening. At least the snow made it feel more like Christmas!

Oberoi Family Vacation In Jamaica!

We decided that we needed a break so we packed up and headed to Jamaica for some relaxation. We spent all of our time either at the beach or the pool. We all had a great time.
Isha loved spending time in the water!! She got an amazing tan the first day were there!! We brought the DVD player so when we weren't playing outside we let Isha watch movies in the room to keep her occupied. Diya spent all of her time in the shade either eating, sleeping or just looking adorable. The hotel had a playground area and Isha enjoyed playing with Clifford and making some friends on one of the cool and windy days. The weather was perfect while we were there. We only had one cool day and a few days of rain. It was nice because the temperatures were in the mid 80's so it wasn't hot and miserable!
Isha enjoyed her Pina Coladas until we realized that every time she had one she was covered in hives. After two trips to the nurses office for Benadryl she had to switch over to Strawberry Daiquiris. Poor thing! She also had to have a doctor come to the resort to see her because she had pink eye. That bought her 5 days of eye drops which she wasn't to fond of at first, but after the first few days she didn't seem to mind them. Thank goodness none of the rest of us got it. Diya was such a good baby the entire trip. She did amazing on the plane and she loved just hanging out on the beach or by the pool. I was worried about the sleeping arrangements, but she did pretty good. With lots of nursing and letting her sleep with me we got a pretty decent amount of sleep. Plus we spent every afternoon in the room napping so none of us were sleep deprived.
We did a little shopping and got both of the girls sun dresses from Jamaica. I hope that they will still fit this summer so that they can wear them again because they are so cute.
Every morning before breakfast we would claim our spot in the shade so that Diya and I wouldn't burn to a crisp!! Here is a picture of our pool and the beach. There was a little island that you could wade over to and there were boats out there with souvenirs and a lady that braided hair.
Isha loved playing in the sand. She met a cute little boy, Ethan, that she spent an afternoon with making sand castles and playing in the ocean.
We really enjoyed our trip. The ocean was beautiful and it was nice to have such a wonderful change of scenery especially since there was a huge snow storm at home! The Jamaican people were so friendly and always had something nice to say to the girls. The jerk pork and strawberry daiquiris were amazing, but most of all it was fun to watch the girls enjoying themselves!!!

Diya's Four Month Check Up

Diya had her four month check up and got a clean bill of health. She is 12 pounds and 10 1/2 ounces which puts her in the 35% for weight and she was 24 3/4 inches tall, which is the 75%. That really shocked me since she doesn't have the tallest parents. My mom's side of the family is tall and while I was pregnant Jai and I joked that Diya would probably turn out to be taller than all of us. If things keep going this way she might really do it. It will be interesting to see what percentile for height she will be in at her six month appointment.

Can You Tell The Difference

Here is a picture of the girls in the same outfit. The adorable sweater was knitted by my friend Megan. Can you tell who is who? Some times I think that the girls look exactly alike and then other times I can really see the differences. People are always telling me that Diya favors me more and I honestly thought they were saying it just to make me feel better, but I can really see the resemblance in this picture.

School Pictures, Getting Ready For Christmas and Snuggling With Mom

Things have been pretty busy at the Oberoi household lately. All of our passports arrived the other day so we are now set to head off to Jamaica for a weeks vacation before Christmas!!! Wish us luck! We plan on just relaxing by the pool and playing on the beach. Our Chrismas tree is up and decorated so it will be waiting for us when we get back. Diya is doing great. She is growing and getting bigger and cuter every day. She has started to grasp toys with her little hands and she is always laughing. She is also very ticklish so all you have to do is give her a little squeeze and you can get a big laugh out of her. She has also become very dramatic! When she wants something she isn't afraid to let you know.

There is nothing better in the world than snuggling up on the couch with my two adorable girls!!!
Here is Isha's class picture. I'm impressed that they were able to get 12 little two year olds to sit still that long. Isha is really enjoying school. She loves all of the art projects that they do and also really enjoys music class with Miss Ashley. I love picking her up from school and hearing all about what she did. I am so proud of her for being so grown up and learning so much.
I was really hoping that her pictures wouldn't turn out good because I didn't want to have to order any especially since she just had pictures a few months ago with Diya, but of course her pictures turned out to be totally adorable so now I am going to have to fork out a few more bucks!! How can you resist that adorable smile? I don't know how the photographer got her to sit still and give such a nice smile, she must have been a miracle worker, because every time I ask Isha to smile she opens her mouth up so wide that I can see her tonsils!

Diya Gets Her Ears Pierced

Diya went to the doctor today to get her ears pierced. She looks so cute with her earrings! She did a great job. When Isha had hers pierced she was screaming even before she had them done because she didn't like being held still by the nurse. Diya was just happy as could be and had no problem being held down by the nurse. The doctor said that it made it hard for him to do it with her just sitting there smiling at him. I already had a stomach ache, but when they did the actual piercing and she started crying it made me cry. It is such an awful feeling to know that your child is crying because of something you decided for them. Poor Diya!!

As soon as they were done they handed her to me and she stopped crying almost immediately and a few minutes later she had her big beautiful smile back. Diya is such an easy going and happy little baby. She looks cute with her newly pierced ears. I am glad it is over!!

Baltimore

Last week we spent a few days in Baltimore and we all had a great time. We took the girls to the National Aquarium and Isha loved the dolphin show. She also likes seeing the "Nemo" fish. She kept calling the sharks "naughty fish" and she enjoyed watching the divers feed the rays. We watched a movie in the 4-D Immersion theater. Boy was that interesting. Diya was hungry so I thought that would be the perfect time to feed her. Well, stupid me, I didn't realize that 4-D meant we were going to get sprayed with water, poked in the back by the chairs and have bubbles floating all over. Poor Diya was screaming and I felt like the worst/dumbest mother ever. Luckily we all survived. We spent Friday at the Port Discovery Children's Museum and Isha had a blast. She had fun playing in the balls and making art projects in the art studio.

I think her favorite part of the museum was the water works area.
Friday night we had a great diner at Amiocci's in Little Italy and then walked across the street to Vaccaro's for some gelato and cannolis. YUMMY!!
On Saturday we went to the Baltimore Basilica and took a tour and then headed down to visit with Jai's cousins in Fairfax and then a stop in Fredericksburg to visit with some friends.
We did lots of walking in the rain, but it was fun to be out and away from home for a few days. But traveling with a baby and a preschooler can be a little stressful so it was nice to get home and relax!

Happy 12 Week Birthday to Diya

It is hard to believe that Diya is already 12 weeks!! The time is going by even faster this time around, which is really hard because I don't want my baby to grow up so fast!

I absolutely love these girls. I am thankful every day to have two beautiful daughters!!! Diya finally fits in her outfit today so her and Isha were able to were their matching clothes from Grandma Louise. They have matching pants also, but Diya had a massive blow out this morning. Luckily we had these yellow pants which matched. While I was cleaning Diya up this morning I could hear Isha getting into something in the other room. When I went to check on her there was 20 feet of Christmas wrapping paper unrolled in the guestroom!!! Once Diya is mobile I am in so so so much trouble!
I love Diya's smile, especially her dimples!!!! Nothing melts my heart like a smile from one of my favorite girls.
Catching a little nap in the car seat. I love how peaceful she looks when she is sleeping.
Another nap in the car seat. When I went to check on her I found her headband across her eyes. I thought that it had just happened because she was wiggling around, but when I pulled the headband up there were marks where it had been sitting. I guess it had been there for awhile. Oh well, it didn't seem to bother her.

Happy Halloween

We had a fun night of trick or treating. We only went to 10 houses, but that was enough candy to make Isha happy! Here is my little Halloween princess. Isha didn't like the hat so she just wore her Halloween headband when we went out trick or treating.

Diya was an adorable little flower!! I love this picture. I put Diya in the Moby wrap and after a few houses she was asleep. Her head was drooping and someone said she looked like a wilted flower. Poor little baby.
Isha's preschool class had a Halloween party on Thursday, so Diya and I went to school with Isha to help celebrate. Her Isha is waiting with her teacher, Miss Manisha, to start music class.
Isha is laying back relaxing while her teachr, Miss Kim, reads a spider book to them. Their theme for Halloween week was spiders!!
The best part of the party...SNACKS. They had oreos that looked like spiders and cookies that looked like witch hats.

Diya's First Photo Session

While my grandma was here we took the girls to get their first professional pictures together. The pictures of the girls together didn't turn out to well, but we did get some cute ones of just Diya. We had a few problems with the session. First our photographer wasn't very good. Isha was having a hard time holding Diya up and the girl just kept taking pictures. I finally had to ask her if we could prop Diya up! They also had a really pretty fall background that she never used. I should have asked for it but I was so stressed out that I was just trying to get the pictures done and over with. I really need to get the names of the good ones and request them!!

Our second problem was that Isha was being totally corny and was making funny faces while Diya looked like she was ready for a boxing match!!Our third problem was that Diya was hungry. I brought a bottle for her, but I should have given it to her before we started because once she got mad it was all down hill. Oh well, live and learn I guess.
There will be more chances in the future to get some good pictures of the girls together, but for now this one will just have to do.
I love Isha's cheesy wink in this one!
One final shot of Diya. It isn't the best picture but I love that you can see her beautiful blue eyes!!!

A Visit From Great Grandma Carol

Diya got a new toy the other day and Isha loves it almost as much as Diya does!! Diya is getting to the point where she likes to be entertained and is no longer happy just laying around looking at the ceiling. Every time we lay her down Isha has to come over and snuggle up with her little sister. It is really sweet.

My Grandma Carol came to see the girls. She has made a trip out from Washington every year since Isha was born. The girls are so lucky to have a Great Grandmother in their lives, and especially one that can come to visit with them.
The weather was beautiful while my grandma was here so we took the girls to the park one day and it was great to be outside in the beautiful Virginia fall weather. Diya got lots of time with Grandma Carol which was great!
Isha must have gone down the slide 100 times while we were at the park.

Just The Girls

Dad has been out of town this week so it has just been me and the girls at home. Last night we made a pizza and watched the BSU football game! Go Broncos!!!

Isha helped me chop the olives for the pizza while Diya hung out in the bouncy seat and supervised.
Yesterday the fire truck came to Isha's school! Here is a picture of her class with the fire truck and fireman. Of course, since I was there, Isha had to put on a show and pretend to be scared and she refused to get in the picture.
The girls are getting a little daddy time!
This is what Isha does anytime I tell her to smile for the camera! She is a dentist's dream but a camera happy mom's nightmare!!!! I love Diya's smile in this picture.
No smiles in this picture, but at least you can't see Isha's tonsils!!
We have been getting lots of care packages in the mail since Diya arrived and Isha has had a blast playing with all her new toys and wearing her new clothes! Here she is trying her hair bows out on her ankles. Silly girl! Grandma Louise sent her lots of Halloween hair bows so we will be all ready for Halloween this year.
Once again here is a "smile" from Isha!
We are doing great and adjusting to being a family of four. Things are pretty easy most of the time. Isha is definitely trying out the "terrible twos", but she makes up for it with her adorable facial expressions, funny antics and hilarious conversations. I love being the mom to two adorable and wonderful little girls!!!!
