Diya's New Tricks

The last month has been a busy one for Diya. She figured out how to sit up all by herself and it wasn't long after that that she figured out how to crawl!! She is into everything now. Of course the first thing she headed for was all the buttons on the TV. What is it with kids and buttons? She has already pulled herself up to standing a few time, but luckily she hasn't started to take any steps yet. It is so fun to watch her because she is so proud of herself, but at the same time it is sad to see my baby growing up so fast.

Diya also got a tooth this month. She had been fussy for awhile, but since Isha got teeth so late I thought I still had a few months before I had to deal with teething. The other day I noticed that her bottom front tooth had popped through and the other one is almost there. She looks like she is working on all four front teeth on the top so they will probably be here soon.

Just Some Cute Pictures To Share

Diya and Daddy
I have the hardest time getting a picture of this girl. When ever the flash light comes on she closes here eyes! We went to Maymont with some friends and while everyone was taking a potty break I got some pictures of Isha. This is her "America's Next Top Model" pose. She loves to pose for the camera.
Here is the mean girl face while dancing! Watch out.
This is one of my favorite outfits, so I am glad that Diya is able to wear it also. When Isha was a baby we took a picture of her in every new outfit she got. We were amazed at how cute she was. I feel bad that we don't do this as often with Diya because she is just as adorable, but I guess that is what happens to the second child.

A Good Weekend

The YMCA was having an event for kids so we stopped by to check it out.

Isha said she wanted to ride the pony so we waited in line and I thought that she would chicken out when it was her turn, but she was brave and she hopped right on.
She loved going for a ride.
She also got to give Clifford (or Clippord, that's what Isha calls him) a big hug.
She doesn't look to excited about sitting in the fire truck, which is funny because she loves when we see one. She always asks me if we can "catch it down". After our busy morning we went to our favorite lunch place that we go to every Saturday. This was the first time that Diya sat up in the high chair. It was great until she leaned her head forward and banged it on the table. Maybe she isn't quite ready yet.

Diya's Photo Shoot

I figured it was time to take Diya in for some pictures. My intentions where to get one of the two of us together since I did this with Isha when she was little and one of Diya by herself. Well I ended up leaving the studio with way more than I bargained for, but how can you say no to a picture this cute: After the photographer was done taking her pictures in the clothes I had brought she had me leave her in just a diaper and she put her in with all these cute props. When I saw how cute they turned out I had to get this one too.

She was just too cute!!!
I wanted to get six months pictures but we didn't make it in until she was 8 months. Oh well, close enough.
The pictures of the two of us together didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. They were the first ones we did so it took her awhile to feel comfortable.
We had lots of fun and Diya did a great job. No crying and I had tons of cute pictures to choose from.

Allergies

Poor Isha has had horrible allergy problems this spring!!! She had been dealing with a stuffy nose and lots of sneezing for a few days, but was starting to feel better, when I decided to let her go to the park. When we came home from the park I put her in the tub and wiped her off to get all of the pollen off (this was during the few weeks when literally everything outside has a yellow/green glow from all the pollen) and when she woke up this is what I found.

Her eyes were so swollen that she could hardly open them and her whole body was covered with a rash. I had never seen anything like it. We went to the peds office the next day and they said she had cellulitis around her eyes so they put her on antibiotics and we gave her claratin in the morning, zyrtec in the evening, and benedryl for in between problems.
Even with all the meds and all the sneezing she still managed to keep her spirits up!!!

Spring Break

Jai's cousin Parul came down and spent her spring break with us. It was great to have her here with us and we can't wait until this fall when she will be living in Richmond full time for school!!

Isha's preschool had Charlie the drug dog come to the school and give a presentation. There is nothing more entertaining than watching a bunch of preschool kids ask a police officer a million crazy questions. Parul was a trooper and came along with us. We also spent some time looking for prom dresses and lots of time coloring and playing with play-doh. I hope we didn't bore her to death, but the girls really enjoyed having her here with us.
We even got an afternoon visit from Maneesha. We all sat around watching Isha dance which was hilarious because she always has this mad face on while she is dancing. She is one sassy little three year old!! Watch out! Diya and her daddy. She loves to snuggle up with him and it is so cute because she always crosses her little feet. Nothing sweeter than little baby feet and toes!!
I also attempted to french braid Isha's hair. This is much harder than it looks. I need to practice more often so that I can get better. Isha was a great sport and she sat perfectly still so that I could braid her hair. She let me do it twice which was pretty impressive!
I should have taken a picture of her after we took the braids out at the end of the day. She had some serious 80's hair going on!!
We didn't do much for Isha's preschool spring break. We just hung around here and went to the park and played at the fountains at Stony Point.

Happy Easter

Our two beautiful little girls on Easter morning all dressed up in their Easter dresses.
A big squeeze from Isha. I sometimes have to remind her to be gentle with her little sister.
Isha and I went to church with the neighbors and Diya stayed home and took a nap. I wish we could have all been there together, but I didn't want to ruin the Easter service with a screaming tired baby.
Isha got lots of special chocolate from For The Love Of Chocolate in Carytown. She ate a ton of candy that day, but your only a kid once so we let her indulge. Diya enjoyed her puffs and yogurt melts.
I love this picture. It looks like the are showing each other what the Easter bunny brought them.
Adam and Laura got them matching outfits for Easter. They looked so adorable!!!
Here is a collage of Isha and Diya's first Easter. I dug out the Easter bunny outfit so that I could get a picture of Diya in it also. Isha was only 3 months on her first Easter, while Diya was 7 months, but they both managed to fit in it. Diya only wore the outfit for a picture because it was way to warm to be wearing long sleeves and pants this Easter.
The ears did get a little smashed in the box, but Diya didn't seem to mind. We colored some eggs and Isha did a great job finding all of them. After a nice afternoon nap we went to Adam and Laura's house and had a wonderful dinner outside to celebrate Easter.

Diya's Appetite

There is nothing that this kid won't eat. She likes it all. It doesn't matter if it is fruit, veggies or table food, she likes it all. I hope she stays this way because life is much easier when you don't have picky eaters!! Diya loves to feed herself. After eating her baby food I always give her a big handfull of either puffs or Cherrios to keep her happy.

Diya also helps keep me company while I am cooking dinner. She supervises from her thrown!!
Diya is the happiest baby. She makes life so easy!! I was definitely blessed with the two girls that God gave me. They were both the easiest babies and dang cute, too!!

A Birthday Party

Isha and Diya's little cousin ,Vihaan, turned one so we headed up to Maryland to help him celebrate his big day. We had a great time visiting with family, eating great Indian food and taking the new car for a little road trip. Isha had a great time hamming it up for everyone! This girl loves attention.

While on the other hand Diya had a hard time keeping up with all of the partying. Even though she was sleepy she still enjoyed hanging out with Vinnie and Shireen.
Isha loved all of the party favors and Diya loved it when Isha would blow the horns for her. I love to see the two of them together. Diya is a happy baby who is always willing to give you a giggle, but no one can make her laugh like her sister!

Diya's Six Month Check Up

It is hard to believe that Diya is already six months old!!! She had her check up today with he pediatrician and she is doing great. She weighed 13 pounds and 7 ounces and was 25 inches long. She is way down in the percentiles on the growth chart, but the doctor said she is doing fine and not to worry. I guess she is going to follow in her sister's footsteps and be a tiny little thing. That's fine with me because it makes is much easier to hold her and carry her around! Diya is also starting to sit up on her own. She still needs someone sitting behind her, but she can hold herself up pretty good now. It will be nice once she can sit up by herself because then she will be able to see what is going on around her and it will be easier for Isha to play with her.

Here she is modeling her adorable dress that Megan made for her. It is the softest yarn and Diya looks so pretty in the beautiful pink color that Meg chose for her. Megan made Isha a beautiful sweater when she was a baby and I am so glad that Diya will have her own beautiful hand made gift from Megan to wear and have as a keepsake some day.
We also got the okay at the six month check up to start giving Diya solid food. So far she loves it!!! She has had rice cereal, apples, bananas, peaches, butternut squash and tonight we are going to try carrots. Isha has helped feed her a few times which is great because she loves helping with her little sister.
I love to watch them interact together. Today I was standing Diya up and Isha was holding her hands and singing Ring Around The Rosy with her, but instead of a pocket full of posies she was singing, "Pakistan and Roses". Funny funny girls!!!

Happy Valentine's Day and Happy Half Birthday Diya

The girls were all dressed up in their hearts for Valentine's day.

Such sweet little Valentines!
Isha had a Valentine's Day party at school on Thursday and Diya and I went to help celebrate. I made mini pink cupcakes for all of the little kids, which earned me the official title of "treat lady". Diya received lots of attention from all of Isha's classmates and we stayed for story time and a little singing.
We spent all day Saturday looking for a new SUV to replace the Armada that I wrecked last month. It was draining having to put up with all of the harassment from the sales people, but the girls were troopers!! We are heading back out next weekend to check out some more options.
Today is also Diya's half birthday. I can't believe that she is already six months old!! She is rolling over now and is also getting very interested in food. We are going to the doctor this week for her six month check up and after that we will start giving her some cereal. To help celebrate her big day we went to our favorite restaurant, the Kebab Grille, and had a special Valentine's day dinner.
